Welcome to the new year and to Free Gaza's ongoing attempts to sail to Gaza to break Israel's illegal siege on the people there. Everyone knows that Israel and the U.S. outsourced the occupation to Greece, forcing us to stop our sailing in July, 2011, although the French sent one boat as our representative and Canada and Ireland have both sent boats in November. Instead of one huge flotilla, we are concentrating on sending waves of boats (and maybe other attempts) into Gaza during 2012. Free Gaza still has two boats, and we are still considering sending one or both of them during 2012.
The Israeli spin machine is busy telling the world that we are a provocation, trying to deflect attention from the fact that Israel’s blockade of Gaza is a crime, condemned by most international human rights and humanitarian organizations. The international community has allowed Israel to continue imposing its blockade, simply because there has been no political will to pressure Israel to end it.
We refuse to let Israel continue violating the human rights of the Palestinian people with impunity. We are taking action and we need your help! Mooring and maintaining both those boats cost money, as does the salaries of the captains when we need them as well as the people taking care of the boats in the ports in North Africa.
